The Junior Scientist Institute (JSI):
ABBGS offers the only research program in St. Louis that brings students into the lab and teams them up one-on-one with a mentor for an enriching learning experience. This one-day experience is offered each year to students in 6th-8th grade by teacher nomination. The goals of this program are:
• To encourage youth to take an active interest in science through dynamic teaching and “hands on” experience.
• To address the disparities of underrepresented groups in science by providing an integrative program that amplifies success through diversity.
• To provide a short-term mentoring opportunity for graduate students and post-docs.
