About Us

What is ABBGS?

The Association of Black Biomedical Graduate Students (ABBGS) is a student-led organization dedicated to strengthening the social, cultural, and academic well being of black biomedical graduate students at Washington University, while promoting diversity within the campus community.

Our Goals

ABBGS assists in heightening the cultural awareness on campus by facilitating events that reflect ethnic diversity within an intellectual, convivial, and professional environment for the purpose of:

  1. Enhancing the graduate experience for all members of the campus community
  2. Supporting active recruitment and retention of a culturally diverse student body
  3. Providing an interface for volunteering and collaboration between Wash U and the surrounding community.


How to join

All members of the Washington University community are welcome to join ABBGS. Members of our organization represent a wide range of ethnicities and nationalities in the campus community.
